Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

RIIBLA203E - Conduct mobile mixing of explosives

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?

Prepare to mix explosives using a mobile processing unit

  1. Access, interpret and apply explosives documentation and ensure work activity is compliant
  2. Locate, select and wear personal protective equipment appropriate for work activity
  3. Inspect work area and establish, barricade, and signpost loading area
  4. Identify and address potential health, safety and environmental hazards and implement control measures in line with workplace procedures
  5. Obtain and interpret emergency procedures in preparation for emergencies and incidents
  6. Confirm safe and secure access to explosives precursors in line with workplace procedures and legislative requirements
  7. Segregate incompatible goods prior to loading the mobile processing unit according to legislation and codes of practice
  8. Inspect mobile processing unit for faults, and record faults in line with workplace procedures
  9. Ensure attachments comply with standards and licensing requirements
  10. Placard mobile processing unit and attachments to show the goods carried, hazardous chemicals identification, and emergency information in line with workplace procedures and legislative requirements
  11. Check that safety equipment is fitted and ready for use in line with workplace procedures and legislative requirements
